Feel More Connected

I work with people who have a hard time connecting to how they feel, and are walking around feeling lonely and isolated—even in their relationships.

Sometimes when people struggle to express their feelings and needs, they start coping with all that pent up frustration in ways that just make them feel worse. Other times, people numb their feelings with substances, porn and sex or get overly focused on work, exercise, kids or other duties. We do this because it’s too painful to face all these overwhelming feelings. I help people experience the range of emotions in a safe and supportive way. I work with people to express themselves more clearly, so they feel more in control and skillful. They are able to show up for themselves and their relationships in ways that feel genuine, authentic and fulfilling.

I also work with couples and other relationship configurations, since this is an area where communication and expressing feelings and needs can be the most difficult for many of us. I work with couples who are wanting to:

  • Argue less or better

  • Stop having the same fights over and over again

  • Re-ignite their sexual connection

  • Feel less defensive in their relationship

  • Re-connect and get out of rigid patterns

  • Repair old hurts and injuries

  • Recover from an infidelity

I have specialized training in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and help couples work through the pain that misunderstanding and unhelpful coping mechanisms have caused in their relationships.

A note about diversity: I really appreciate the diversity of the Bay Area and strive to have a psychotherapy practice that embraces and celebrates people of all races, physical bodies, genders, sexualities, relationship configurations, cultures, spiritual beliefs, and sexual orientations. As a white man, I work to bring a high degree of awareness to the power and privilege I’m given and actively work to be anti-racist and culturally aware.
